Scott Hall is running for Halifax Co. NC Sheriff

I wanted to take a few minutes of your time to discuss some future events. As most of you already know, Sheriff Tripp has announced his retirement date of June 2022. I would like to make it official and announce my intention to run for Sheriff of Halifax County in the 2022 election.

First and foremost, I want you to know I’m a family man who is dedicated to serving my community through coaching various sports teams and being a champion for the many causes that are dear to us here in Halifax County. In January 1996, Chief Beale of the Roanoke Rapids Police Department believed in a 20-year-old hometown kid and gave me an opportunity to serve the citizens of Roanoke Rapids as a police officer. During my time as a police officer, I had the opportunity to work closely with the community as a patrol officer, a foot patrol officer, the city's first bicycle officer, a School Resource Officer, and a Master Officer.

ln November of 2003, Sheriff Jeff Frazier appointed me as a deputy sheriff and assigned me to the Weldon area. Since my appointment, I have been promoted through the ranks as a corporal, a Detective, a Lieutenant in patrol, a Lieutenant in Narcotics, a Lieutenant in Investigations, and Captain.

Chief Deputy, Halifax County NC Sheriff's Office

I continued advancement under Sheriff Tripp's leadership as he promoted me to Major and later to Chief Deputy, the position in which I currently hold. While holding the position of Chief Deputy I have worked closely with the management team as well as every division within the sheriff's office to include supervising the day-to-day operations of the office.

With nearly 25 years of experience in all areas of law enforcement, I feel that I am more than ready to lead. If you don’t know me, one thing you’ll learn quickly is that I truly care about the people of this community. Searching for, and retaining, the best law enforcement team of dedicated men and women remains essential to the continued success of keeping our communities safe.

I look forward to listening to you and hearing your concerns and ask in advance for your commitment of support for me as your next Sheriff. Let’s continue working together to ensure the wellness and safety of all Halifax County Residents!
